Re: Explore The NEW SeymourDuncan.com

I'm liking it... looks great. The pickup selector took me right to a set that I already own, one that I already planned to purchase, and another that I had never considered... very cool.

Found 1 bug:
  • On the "Crunchy Amp" sound sample for the Custom Custom, the "Guitar Only" and "Band Mix" are reversed from the buttons.

Suggestions (Wiring Diagrams):
  • Would be nice to have a way to browse the diagrams instead of having to make selections. A lot of those diagrams will translate to other pickup types and it would be nice to be able to see options that aren't listed just because (for example) you may have picked "P-Rails" instead of "Humbucker."
  • Would also be nice to have the option for pdf versions of the diagrams instead of just images.

Thanks for the suggestions! After launch we will be going back and replacing with a more high-resolution diagram at some point and getting to the few that seemed to be missing. We will be discussing a drop-down for all diagrams this morning.

Re: Explore The NEW SeymourDuncan.com

Unless Duncan changed the Trembucker baseplates, all p'ups shown as Trembuckers are wrong, but the Perpetual Burn.

HTH,

Hey Kojak, thanks for taking a look and will check with Derek to see if we had intentionally decided to use the same images for the trembucker or whether this was a mistake. Good catch either way!

Re: Explore The NEW SeymourDuncan.com

Thanks again guys, we will be meeting late this afternoon to discuss your feedback, so if you have anything else to add in the next 3-4 hours feel free.

Re: Explore The NEW SeymourDuncan.com

Is the EQ on the Pegasus correct? I always thought it was supposed be something like 5/7/6 (b/m/t), but the EQ on every Pegasus page is scooped. To me, that paints an entirely different picture of what that pickup is. Also, is it possible to add pages for 6 string versions of the Pegasus and Nazgul?

Either way, thanks! The new site is looking awesome so far.

Yes, the Pegasus EQ is correct but keep in mind B/M/T is subjective, the person who has spent the largest amount of time playing a pickup defines it. Adding the 6 string Peg/Naz is on the top of the list and should be there soon. Thanks!

Re: Explore The NEW SeymourDuncan.com

It seems like a few pickups have different specs wether they are trembuckers or not. Is this accurate? The Perpetual Burn trembucker, for example, has an output of 581.6 mV and a DC Resistance of 13.1 KOhms, and the humbucker version has an output of 608 mV and a DC Resistance of 12.1 KOhms. The Black Winter humbucker has a DC Resistance of 16.6 and the trembucker of 17.4 KOhms. Same case for the Full Shred and Custom 5.

Some of them, like the Pearly Gates have identical specs regardless if they're trembuckers or humbuckers?

Yes. Trembucker coils are longer at the core than their counterparts, due to the wider polepiece spread, so the same amount of turns will contain more wire, hence the higher reading; while keeping the same tone-footprint, even if it may seem counter-intuitive.

Yes, I thought so, but I found it funny that most trembucker versions where the output does vary according to the site, it usually drops for the trembuckers. Interesting.

Re: Explore The NEW SeymourDuncan.com

Here my two cents

- The EQ bars is good graphical quick reference for some pickups where you know you want more treble the mids or more mids than treble for example but you have to put the 1-9 value for each column to do other kinds of comparisons.
- You could add a description for the sound samples to know wood type, bridge type, fingerboard type. If I have a matching guitar or not then the demo can be very accurate or misleading depending on what you used for the demo. For comparison among pickups across the same test guitar it does the job.
- In the list of products I see the name of the pickup but not the model code like SH1 or so. It is good to have it in there when I do a search for a model I know but not the name

- Is there mV output value for each coil of the P-Rail? Or does it match with the output of other models for wich you already have values like phat cat or SSL-1?. A clarification would be useful. Same as above for Stag Mag.

- In the wiring diagram, the options are not user friendly or kind of limited. If I pick a neck single coil I cannot select a HB in the bridge. Maybe if you just put a configuration from from a drop down list like SSS, HH, HSS, HSH.

- No generic wiring diagram in the specific pickup page?

- Some info tooltips have no info. Example same link as above.

- It may be just me but the font in summary and description is small for the pickup information, maybe a bit bigger can make it easier to read. I am using a laptop with Firefox 39.

Thanks buddy and great feedback. There is a tooltip field that we will be populating with some info about the pickup and could include info on the demo guitar/amp. The model code is underneath the black model name (but less noticeable). We are moving a bit away from using both interchangeably, some people get confused by it and ask if they are the same thing. You should be able to build a S/H or SSH no problem with the Wiring Diagram selector. Thanks for your thoughts on the font size.

Re: Explore The NEW SeymourDuncan.com

Thanks again folks, we are going to go through all mentioned items now and may choose to open this thread. You're still welcome to browse around the dev site, and if you notice any major problems please feel free to drop me a PM.
