Explorer Pickguard

I have a 1980 E/2 Explorer coming in and judging from the hardware and pickguard I'm going to want some shiny new hardware.

Now my first question, is the E/2 Pickguard the same pickguard as a regular explorer. I asked Pickguards.us and they said they don't have a template for it but I haven't asked warmoth yet. pickguards.us did offer to make one for me if I send them the pickguard tho.

My second, on some I've heard the hardware is a Tp-6 while others say it is just a regluar Gibson Tune o matic. Which is it, or where can I find a replacement.

The Pickgaurd Looks to Be A Normal Explorer style pickgaurd to me. Just Judgeing from looks, even if it is Slightly different (which it doesn't appear to be) A normal pg would fit No problems.

Second, Just from the Picture of the bridge, I can tell you that the Stoptail Is a Tp-6 stop tail (Made obvious By the fine tuners). And The Tune'o'matic appears to Not be the standard Gibson equipment (judged by the fact that it doesn't have a retaining wire, where Most gibsons Do have the rataining wire). I could be Wrong about the Tune'omatic though (sicne some people rip off the retainign wire, Such as myself). But The Stop tail Is Most deffinately a Tp-6 Fine tuner tail piece.

Hopefully somone else will see this too, and Either Back me up. Or If I'm wrong (which I may very well be), Give you the correct info. But I'm fairly sure I'm correct.

Just wondering though, for the bridge, is there a special type of bridge I need to get to replace it or should any work.

Chandler had some templates for some really off the wall stuff that I didn't expect them to have.

I´m not 100% sure, but I think the measurements are the same....sending them the oold guard as a template is definitely the ideal solution, though (an exact tracing will also work)

The Tailpiece IS the TP-6 fine tuning tailpiece, the bridge itself seems to be a standard Nashville, common for that era.... both pieces of info are correct

Nashville bridges have the retaining wire, not the "regular" TOM, correct?

As for the Tailpiece, I don't know what will or will not fit, but I suggest getting a regular stop tail piece unless you are interested in keeping the guitar stock, cos those TP6's KILL tone, IME.

No, the other way around, the ABR-1 has the wire and the Nashville style doesnt ... the ABR-1 also has angled slots while the Nashville has straight slots.... I find the design of the Nashville otherwise superior, but intonation setting affecting string spacing drives me totally bonkers
