Exta oomph for a USA standard tele

I would be interested in peoples opinions on how to increase the beef on a standard USA tele. I don't mind the stock pick-ups and I am not totally sure that I do want a humbucker in the bridge as it will drastically alter the character of the guitar.. but I can resist experiementing. I am thinking of a mini-humbucker at the neck but I am not sure of whether to go for something like a lil 59 in the bridge or stick with a true hot single coil. Although I have never heard one (apart from a recording) from what I have read about the lil screamin demon this may also have almost percussive edge that might be interesting.

My other guitar is a Tokai with a CC / Pearly gates combo so I am looking for something with more versatile approach

If you are willing to go the mini humbucker route then i recommend it. They sound killer in teles. For the bridge i would recommend a quarter pounder. I think thats the ultimate tele bridge pup. Beef, balls and twang all in one.
