extra routing required with big brass blocks?

I recently upgraded my main floyd guitar with a big brass block. While the tone is absolutely jaw dropping, the range on dive bombs and pulls is much more limited.
I thought about removing wood from the highlighted areas, is it a good idea?:
Thanks!

Re: extra routing required with big brass blocks?

I had that problem on some guitars- for me, the solution was to get a Tungsten block instead. It's twice the density of brass so you get all the benefits of a Brass Big Block, but in the size of a standard block.

I thought about it, but I'm just too cheap...

The bit on the left will give you more pull up ,but the piece on the right needs to be further over and right up to the edge of the trem cover recess route

Yep, for more divebomb you'll need to add in extending the wider section of rout that holds the block

With most of my guitars I dont have a problem depending on the block size. I once ordered the largest block (47?) and had to shave some wood off the back wall so the trem would lay flat. And then it was dive only. Make sure you have the correct size block and if so, you should be ok removing some of that wood.
