Extreme GAS! Gibson Les Paul Classic - Smokehouse Burst

isn’t that price a little steep for a classic?

I remember helping my friend's wife get a Classic for him as a surprise around 17 years ago. Then the price tag was $1700, I got it for her for $1500. So taking inflation into the equation Gibson is not really jacking up their prices as much as people think they are.

$1,700 in 2005 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $2,426.85 today, an increase of $726.85 over 17 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 2.12% per year between 2005 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 42.76%..

I really dig it. Who are these weirdos that don't like the color brown? Bizarre. I also love the old Root Beer bursts too.

It's nice and all, but for another $1k you could get a used R7 or R8. :?:

But, why? The Classic is the best bang-for-buck in the lineup (if you care about binding). It has all the elements of the LP at a lower cost. I bought one of the greenbursts and it was awesome. Not sure what else you'd want in a LP.
