Extreme Leggato!

Re: Extreme Leggato!

I was just thinking about him earlier today too. Wow, that's weird.

Great skill

But maybe I'm in the minority in not really liking the style of playing two guitars at once like that... for one dynamic range is extremely compromised when soloing... I personally find the guitar to sound really hollow and even a bit weak when played like that.

He picks good notes, is a far better musician than me but I'd still rather he played normally and let someone else do the chords

All IMO of course.

+1

Not denying that it's both visually and sonically impressive, though. If he can mix that with normal guitar playing, that would be quite a treat.

I can feel you man! I'm not really one for gimmicks myself. His melodic improv lines and phrasing are of more interest to me from a practical standpoint. However, it is entertaining to watch.

This is the downside of playing jazz though! There are some phenominal cats out there but why do we have to listen to the 12,000,000,000th rendition of Autumn Leaves! All the great players just keep playing the same old tired standards over and over again! :smack: :smack:

There is a ton of wonderful music from countries like Brasil that would be great in a jazz setting. But instead Jazz cats turn up their noses! Those that do try to play it turn it into Smooth Jazz! :smack: Yuck!
