F spaced invader?

Re: F spaced invader?

String spacing doesn't really matter with the big hex heads of the Invader. There's no volume drop off no matter how far you bend the strings.

Re: F spaced invader?

The tb-4 has that slug side of course, and I'm not sure how that would match with the sh-8's screw-shafts. (which are about as big as the hex-caps!lol)

I'm all for the tb-8 because I like things to not only work right but also look right. I still have a bored/boxed gates tb-8 with chrome caps on standby.
I love my other gates tb-8 in the neck-thru warbeast (bright/wide/scooped guitar) and those tb-8 lower-mids really fill it in.

Find a synister gates version or get a shop floor custom made.

The tb-4 is supposed to be different from the distortion/invader wind, start with a tb-6 or a trem spaced black winter instead maybe.

I like the invader without the oversized cap head screws. It tightens up the lows and gets some definition instead of woolliness. Get some super distortion screws from dimarzio, they screw right in. Pretty much on par with what a triple magnet tb-6 or a black winter are.

Re: F spaced invader?

I tried to get Synyster Gates Invaders. SD wouldn't even give me any info. at all and told me I HAD to go through a dealer. Tried that and was told that they simply don't make 'em anymore (this after the dealer, apparently, spoke with SD) (although to be honest: I'm not sure how true this is and I'd take it with a pinch of salt). Anyway. I got tired of being mucked about so ordered standard Invaders.

Anyways and for the sake of interest: if anybody DOES, in fact, manage to get their hands on these things I'd be interested to know about it but only for the sake of curiosity really i.e. I myself was quite surprised at just how little a difference there actually is between a standard spaced and an F-spaced pickup (certainly not something I'd bother insisting on again if I had to order them specially or had to wait for them to be made).

Re: F spaced invader?

Why would you even want that? I used to own an Invader set. Those magnets are so huge they might as well be rails.

Re: F spaced invader?

This would be about $150 after shipping to USA, but it's about the only gates tb-8 I could locate as new.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Seymour-Du...m=252980189187&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982

edit; sorry I posted the wrong one at first,,,,,,,here is the tb-8^^^^

They actually have their pics wrong, the tb-8 pic is on the cheaper sh-8, and the sh-8 pic is on the tb-8 listing,,,,,,not a very good sign of organizational skills.

They've obviously had them for years now as new, so they'd likely accept a lower offer is contacted, just be sure they double check the spacing.

Hello. Nice. Thanks for that. Too late for me now though.

For what it's worth: since those fake pickups arrived on that other thread (from Amazon no less) I've now resorted to getting the EXACT model numbers from the supplier/vendor before ordering or accepting i.e. SD has a more specific and longer model number or product code for each pickup e.g. the actual SD product code for the bridge Invader is 11102-31-B and not just simply SH-8b (or as some suppliers do they simply say "bridge" or "neck" and I don't trust this no more).

Not a bad idea at all. I've also ran into some very unorganized sellers, although less on reverb than amazon and ebay, but it does happen.
