Hi guys i be getting a caparison TAT2 soon and its equipped with schaller floyd R2 as i know schaller floyd is smaller than OFR...

Was wondering if i still have to go with F spaced bridge duncan pickups for a good string to polepiece alignment ?

Re: F spaced or not for non OFR floyds?

I have had in a pinch success with dual bar mag bridge pup to close the gap without spending $ for a f spaced until I got one.

Go F spaced if you can, but it's not the end of the world if you don't.

The only standard spaced 'floyd' that I know of is the Jackson JT-6 tremolo

So with the old JT-6 trem i didnt have to go with F spaced pickup anymore?

The JT-6 has standard spacing, so no you wouldn't want a trem spaced in there. But you don't have one of those as far as i know

Been there, done that

You know Schaller manufacturers all the Floyds for Floyd Rose? But the version with their name on it has a slightly different baseplate.

I'm 99% sure the string spacing on the Schaller Floyd is the same as the "real" Floyd, which as has been said, Schaller also makes.

string spacing is the same.

those OEM type Schallers do have a different baseplate and there is about a 2mm difference in the length of the baseplate (i.e., from pivots to tail) IIRC. that might lead to issues in some recessed trem cavity situations.

the only "smaller" I've dealt with on the Schallers would be the long screws that come out the tail are shorter than the FR....except for the Schaller LockMeister, which is a practically identical unit to the FR.

String spacing is the difference between a Gibson or Fender (F) or Trembucker spaced pickup. Since Floyds were originally based on Fender term bridges, and fit on guitars routed for Fender style trems, they are usually F spaced to match.
