Fading out

Last weekend I started playing my 50 watt Jubilee again. I had been using another amp but when it came time to solo I was scrambling to rig up the Jub.

Anyway the Jub was sounding great during solos but it then started loosing power and fading out temporarly. After about ten seconds it would come back to normal only to do it again.

Any ideas?

I have never replaced the filter caps and it has just been sitting not used for several months. Could it be old filter caps? The filter caps don't show any visible signs or leaks or anything.

Definitely get it serviced, filter caps probably need changed by now.

This happened to me on my epiphone valve jr. - turns out the fuse which powered the heaters for the tubes was loose. Once I tightened it up, the problem went away.

No I havn't had time to swap in tubes yet. It doesn't seem likely given the fact that its only a temporary condition that comes and goes, but you never know.

Yeah, swap out all the tubes of course. It could be filter capacitors.

I have a 50W Jubilee that's still running strong with the stock filter caps. I like the JJ E-34L's in it w/Tungsol pre's.

The only failure mine has had was the diode bridge failed, and no signal passed through the preamp. It got fixed with higher tolerance parts, and has been fine ever since.

I'm nt a biog fan of 50 watt Marshalls Trade it in and get a 100 watt with a full stack.Okay, just being silly. 50 watters are greaat amps, and I need one. 50 watt Marshall through a 1/2 stack is a classic combo! Just find a qualified tech, and get it serviced.

Well tonight I played the amp for a good long time. No problems. What did I do? Nothing. Only one thing; I left the amp on for three days and nights. Not on standby, but on, on.
