Fairly cheappedal that will take me in Jerry Cantrell territory?

It seems my current rig will not take me there, even if I was to change the pups on the Gibby so... Just exploring other options really.

It does need to be low price as it is kind of a side project. I am mostly playing classic rock and getting creative playing in this style, but I do miss playing heavier stuff.

Boss Mega Distortion.... Danoelectro Fab Tone...

Tonebone hot british. Will nail it on the head.

I love that Boss Mega Distortion. By mixing and blending different levels of the cascaded gain stages, you get such a variety of overdrive and distortion tones.

For AIC heavier sound (Bogner Fish preamp/MosValve poweramp or Bogner modded Marshall JCM800) I like the Marshall JH-1 Jackhammer (in OD mode that is based on JCM800 sound), for his recent warmer sounding stuff (Bogner Shiva) I prefer the sound of Seymour Duncan SFX-03 Twin Tube Classic.

The Jackhammer looks like a real option: £35.00 at Dolphin Music. Otherwise the Boss MD-2 would be acceptable as well around £50.00 mark.

How come the Marshall pedal is so cheap? I need to try these now.

Don't forget to try a Danoelectro Fab Tone.... it has the great low end EQ and plenty of distortion for most heavy sounds... It is a one trick pony... i use mine on my board a fair bit when i need that completely over the top stack sound out of my C30 combo....

Allright guys! I pulled the trigger on the Jackhammer. I still can spend 35 quids for sound experiment. Should be delivered early next week.

Will let you know how it goes.

Next step, if I managed to sell the valvestate is to get Duncans for the Gibby. I think I'll go with a set of SH-2 Jazz... but that is another story.

Congrats Jazz Rock! Hope you'll like it.

The Jazz set is a good choice.
