Fake or not a fake?

I saw a post about Chinese fakes that were really well made. The only thing that set it apart visually, was the shape of the pup feet.
So my question: I want to buy this custom custom via the interwebs, does it look suspicious or not?

That looks like a Trembucker. Could be a Custom Custom Trembucker. Hard to read the label. Should read TB-11.

i can't say for certain if it's real, but most fakes are based off the modern stickers on the baseplate and don't use trembucker baseplates. the "feet" in question have the standard trembucker look, and i've never seen a fake with the old school sticker on the back like that.

I've been at the forefront of the fake/counterfeit discussion and have posted most of the examples to date.

You are safe with that one...it's real. A nice early one, in fact, before they went to the "Made in America" stamping

We are lucky to have your expertise in this area here.

So, who puts an S on the printed label, that looks like a 5?

I assume it began life as a Custom, a TB-5, and either it was one of the early OEM pickups, before they actually gave it the TB-11 nomenclature, but wrote Custom Custom on the baseplate. But what’s more likely is that someone did a mag swap on it, and then wrote Custom Custom on the back to denote that they converted it from a Custom to a CC.

If the wires weren't covering the sticker it would be easier to see, but to me it looks like "TB-11" followed by an "S" that looks the same as the "s" in Custom.

I see what you’re seeing.
Tough to be certain what’s going on there. Lol

according to this...NO S!!!

"If there is an extra letter at the end it reflects who actually wound your pickup: •A Raul Araiza (Single Coils) •B Leticia Bautista (Single Coils) •C Catalina Padilla (Rails) •D Debbie Nyquist (Humbuckers) •E Edward Madrigal (Humbuckers) •G Gloria Ocompo (Humbuckers) •J Maricella Juarez-83′ (Humbuckers, Single Coils, Stacks, Rails) •J Janice Salazar-til 83′ (Stacks) •L Lidia Daniel (Humbuckers) •L Leticia Quintero-87′-90′ (Stacks, Rails) •M Martha Cameron (Humbuckers, Single Coils) •O Oti Mora (Stacks, Rails) •P Lupe Perez-86′ on (Rails) •P Patty Vasquez-till 86′ (Stacks, Rails) •R Connie Rocha (Single Coils) •V Joe Velez (Single Coils) •X Mai Xiong (Stacks)"

PS I'm by no means insinuating this isn't a legit pickup, I just watch a lot of law and order.

It looks like a legit pickup that someone, inexplicably, hand wrote an S or 5 on the label. (Maybe they mag-swapped an A5 and now it's a Custom 5?)

Maybe it's my imagination, but if it is an "S" it looks like it's written in the same manner as the "S's" in the words "Custom Custom".
Anyone ever do any handwriting analysis?

Good eye....you’re absolutely correct.

Upon further research, I think maybe yours is the correct answer.
