Fake pickup ?

Is it possible to switch the inner of a SD pickup and replace it with a fake (keeping the original cover) ?

I have two SSL-1s which say SD on the top (white plastic cover) but no identification mark on the bottom. How do I tell if they are genuine ?

The plastic covers on Strat pickups are easily interchangeable. Every genuine Seymour Duncan pickup I've seen has a sticker on the bottom. Do these have stickers?

How do I tell if they are genuine ?

Post a pic. I mean you don't even tell us what wire they have.

In general Strat pickup covers aren't fitting too many other Strat pickups.

First, the magnets will tell you a lot about the pickup. If they have beveled edges, maybe a little lacquer type stuff on the top, that's one sign. The rest is found by taking the cover off...

Small sticker below each (they come fitted as stock pickups in a guitar) which just says "1".

I should also add here that they come as stock pickups in a guitar (strat copy) I plan to purchase second hand from some one. Manufacturer's description says they are "SD Vintage pickups" (neck and middle). Reviews I have read on the internet suggest that the vintage actually stands for SSL-1.

1 on a white sticker is correct, if it has staggered poles and a triagular bottom, its a SSL-1.

Thanks a ton !! I think this fits the specs of the pickups. Also, spent a while playing them. The tone is too distinct for them to be a fake. The tone of the neck pickup makes me want to weep with joy

Still, it's great that I got it verified here as well.
