fall into grace

Re: fall into grace

I like it. Cool rhythm. I hear an almost Journey-like influence in there at times too. Tasteful little fills.

Not sure how I feel about the vocals. My initial thought is they're just distracting but I suppose they fit well enough. Maybe there's just too much of them especially since there's not a ton of variety in the lyrics. Especially the repeating at the end. Maybe ease up on the microphone a bit and let the music breathe a bit more?

Nice job overall. :bigthumb:

Re: fall into grace

cool bro, glad you dig this

I see what your sayin for vox Im gonna make quick fixes when I go back into the file - trim the initial repeat or two of the repeating at the end, and maybe for the double bass part Ill take out the middle repeat, maybe some of the low octave "youll fall"s out, and boost the volume of the rhythym guitars. Thanks bro for listening and the helpful comments :beerchug:

Re: fall into grace

Got a kind of QOTSA does cure cover feel to it or something... maybe that's just me.

Loved all the fills, as Gamera above noted. Felt just a little like there was a little oomph missing during the verses. Not sure what.

Otherwise it was great. Keep it up.

Re: fall into grace

sounds cool. might bring the vox down a tad; also, vox might sound good with a light flange effect methinks.

Re: fall into grace

I dig the vocals actually. The melodiies of the vocal and expression might need some variations but it's cool! I dig the tones.

The vocals are too loud tho. i would put the reverb lower and put it more into centre.
Oh and the Bassdrum needs some small boost on the low end!

Thanks much! this is helpful, I am hitting the guitar strings on the upstroke/upbeat like in ska music. Ive been messing with compression and various amp models - Ill try a few more combinations. I was hoping you would comment.

Right on, Ill try flange - never experimented with it yet, thanks

Thanks much for the close listen, I think an effect I had uncentered vocals - Ill lower reverb and boost low end bassdrum, thanks again

Re: fall into grace

It's not the kind of music I'd normally listen to (bit different from your normal stuff too) so I can't comment too much on the actual songwriting other than to say it all seems very solid and well done.
I liked the vocals personally, they actually remind me of later Zep Robert Plant for some reason!
I really like the drums, and to my ears, the mixing is spot on as is the guitar playing. The solo is tasteful and short enough to fit the song, it also sounds nice and fat.

I'm not hearing a lot of bass, maybe turn that up a bit, but overall it sounds pretty darn good!
