There have been several Im sure...Clapton favored the G12H30's with his Marshall heads as did Hendrix while Jeff Beck and Billy G both favor Greenbacks...as for the V30 there has to be hundreds of recordings on those speakers...they are the stock speaker in humdreds of amps (not even counting the Marshalls! recordings of Soldanos...post MM and pre tweed Clapton, post Marshall and Pre PV EVH, and Warren Haynes come to mind...matchless, there, again have to be humdreds but I always liked the tones the guys in the black Crows got out of them...theyused Clubman and Clubman Reverbs, for CD/SC/and HC type Matchless tones John from the Hellecasters loved those and used them before and after his signature Matchless amp. Bogner...Jerry Cantrell is a good example.
All that said keep this in mind...I have heard recordings that had tones that blew me away only to find out it was pure junk and Ihave heard recordings with terrible tones only to find out it was a stack of vintage Fender and Gibson guitars played through vintage Fender, Marshall and Vox amps...IM not saying that tone is in your hands but it is in the hands of the guy on the other side of the glass more often that not!
A good engineer in a good studio can take junk and make it osund good (imagine what he could do with killer gear) and a jerk that thinks he's an engineer can f'up a 59 LP into a 60's Plexi halfstack!

I wish I had the trunk space for a 4x12 so I can have a greenback-loaded cab. But, the 60L's I got arent too shabby either!

I was just going to mention that one myself.
On Lynch Mob's first and second records, George used Soldanos, Marshalls and ENGLs.
Christian nailed it in his last paragragh though. Couldn't have worded it any better myself.

Actually, I relistened to a bunch of Clapton on YouTube after hearing GUY THAT INVENTED say that Clapton used H30s on Cream. I defintely hear that, and the tone of the amp being cranked live.
On some Yardbirds stuff it had that bright tone of an LTD.
I made this post to get some reference material for prototypical tones for some recordings I am trying to do. It's kinda like extra credit homework.
I am really curious about the Micing and speakers on Apettite for Destruction AND Van Halen 1984.
I was also listening to some Soldano era clapton. I sometimes find Soldanos too gainy, but Lynch and Clapton sounded great on YouTube. Some others, not so great.
Was Mark Knopfler using Soldanos on Knebworth 90?

When Eric was in the Yardbirds he played a rosewood fingerboard Telecaster and an AC-30...sometimes 2 AC-30's.
As for Soldanos...I like to listen to a lot of guys that use them, Clapton and Warren Haynes come to mind but I have never been able to get a sound out of them that I thought was really good...

IIRC Daniel Johns from Silverchair used Soldano SLO's for Neon Ballroom and everything after that.

Daniel did use Soldanos a good bit after the first Silverchair album...not all the time but a good it of it...
About the AC-30's I can't be 100% positive but I am pretty sure that he only had the Telecaster and an AC-30 during his time with the Yardbirds...in fact I read somewhere that for big gigs he actually had to borrow the other AC-30.

I read that Warren has two setups. The Diaz/Soldano, etc. setup for Mule and and one centered around a Plexi reissue for ABB.

Jeff Beck used a Les Paul and 2 AC30's on Truth. Switched over to a Strat and a 50w Plexi for BeckOla.

Well, the stock Soldano cabs have eminence speakers. But speaking from experience onstage and in the studio, soldanos match up very well with V30s.
