I am falling in love with the thing again per TGWIF recommendation, but I wonder who did what well known tunes, with the new versions and original .... I suspect Billy Gibbons used it on some, has that delicious wet chime of his ....

Re: Famous ProCo Rat tones

Mick Mars from Motley Crue has used one...and i love his tone.

A :bigthumb: for Mick Mars , love his playing and tone. Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme used one and I`ve read that Jeff Beck used one in the 70s

Re: Famous ProCo Rat tones

I have also heard that Jeff Beck used one, but my favorite albums (Blow by Blow, Wired) were pre-Rat. It would be fun to know which albums/tracks he used it on.

Re: Famous ProCo Rat tones

Jeff used a Rat a LOT in the 80's and on up until he switched to DSL Marshalls...

Guitar Shop is full of Rat...a little TS-9 but mostly rat into a 2 amp set up of a Twin Reverb and a Princeton Reverb...twin set clean princeton cranked...a Strat or a Tele and you're there!

Re: Famous ProCo Rat tones

Kill Em All from Metallica is a fairly accurate representation. A few songs off of Nevermind from Nirvana as well, like Breed.

Re: Famous ProCo Rat tones

I love the Rat. It would be alarmingly accurate to call the Rat one of my favorite AMPS, given the number of times that I have run other pedals into it and then directly out of the Rat into the board.

Steve Stevens during Billy Idol's early-'80s heyday.

I have all the parts for a small box clone sitting on my workbench and really want to put it together. I miss my old '85-ish small box since I sold it to Krall a few years ago.

which era of crew did he use it for though? the earlier 'shout at the devil' '80'sdays of later 80's stuff? I personally like his later tone a la 'dr. feelgood' stuff better than his earlier tones

Re: Famous ProCo Rat tones

it's all over the first ugly kid joe cd; i can't remember his name, but the left handed guitarist used it pretty exclusively
