Any experts on Fane speakers out there in forum land??

Any experience with their 22 watt 12289 12 inch speaker?

Re: Fane Speakers...

I associate Fane loudspeakers with Southend-On-Sea period Vox amplification. My best school friend and band mate had a "PCB" Vox AC30 with twin blue label twelves. The driver that you describe might suit an AC15 if used singly or an AC30 if run as part of a pair.

I could check in my History Of Vox "anorak" book. It may contain relevant information.

Cheers Funk...I wondered whether it would work with a JTM45??? I've got a G12H in my 2x12 awaiting a partner and was planning to go with a G12M, but I saw the Fane on Fleabay and got to wondering! :)

Re: Fane Speakers...

Fanes are English speakers but lack the tone most folks thing about when they think Brit speaker.

They are more even overall with more lows and less of that upper mid CLANG to them.

The 22 watters are not very loud (next to an H30 it'll likely get buried).

It was likely made for Arbiter to be used is UK Sound City cabs and FWIW are not the most desirable of the Fane speakers. The 50 watt/cast frame Fanes are BEASTS but the 22 watters are sort of ho-hum in ways.

The overall tone is cool but they are not very loud, lack a little low end thump (compared to the 50 watters) and at only 22 watts you need a few of 'em to really use big amps.

If you want to know what Fanes sound like listen to almost any classic WHO...the 50 watt cast frame Fanes were standard in HiWatt cabs, Gilmour also uses Fanes but different models from the ones you are looking at, Rick Nielsen also uses Fanes in his old Sound City cabs but I think his might be the 50 watt versions. Keith Urban has been using them off an on for a few years now but again different versions (he uses the same model as Gilmour).

We know Pete used modified Hiwatts, and that Gilmour used Hiwatts. I guess you could still get an idea of the general flavour of the Fane even with a Marshall though you may be used to that Hiwatt sound. Not sure how different it would sound.
