For more modern tones the JB/Custom Hybrid is the best... the EVH and 59/Custom may be a bit too vintage sounding... they are both only slightly hotter than a PAF.

I really love the singing tone of the Alnico 2 Pro in the neck of my schecter, and right now I have an Alnico 2 JB in there as well. If I grab a Custom, how would a Custom/A2Pro hybrid sound in the neck position to match a JB/Custom hybrid in the bridge?

I have a Custom/A2Pro-A3 Double screw hybrid. Great bridge bucker, but I think it would be too hot for the neck. YMMV tho.

A hybrid - two different coils from two different pickups combined to make one pickup

You buy a Hybrid from him! I as well as many others have. I believe everyone needs at least one hybrid in their arsenal. They have their own unique character which can't be found in a stock pup.
