Fargen Mini Plexi

Re: Fargen Mini Plexi

It's not bad for what it is, but it's more intended for moderate volume cleanish/midgain Marshall plexi tones, and doesn't retain the tight low end quite as good as it's louder version the Mighty Plex. Between the two, I'd go with the Mighty Plex, although it's closer to the volume of a Plexi reissue.

One thing I like about those Fargen Plexi copies is the 3 way switch, which changes the voicing from 60s/70s/80s

The Mini & Mighty Plex capture all of your favorite British classic rock tones but with a new twist. Our patented "Decade Switch" gives you 3 different classic sounds/gain structures and then drives a cathode biased power section that offers a more harmonically complex top end than your standard fixed bias design. Whether you're in the studio or on the stage these two amps have you covered.

Mini Plex - Output Power - 8-12 watts
Tube Complement - (2) 12AX7, - (2) EL34
Class - Parallel single-ended class A
Front Panel Layout & Equalization - Volume, Master, Treble, Bass, Middle
Size and Weight - Head - 19 3/4"W x 10"H x 10"D, 22lbs - 1x12 Combo - 19 3/4"W x 17.5"H x 10"D, 35lbs.

Fargen makes some great stuff.

The Epic 30 DC honeymoon hasn't worn off :smoker:

Ben Fargen is a stand up guy and he takes care of his customers. I also believe he makes some of the best products in the business; I stand by his work 110%, he has made one of the best amps I have ever heard.

Re: Fargen Mini Plexi

that seems perfect.... i checked their site but couldnt find a price list... how much do they run?

Re: Fargen Mini Plexi

bumping.....

these things must be a fortune no? i just listened to some clips...and for the first time in a while i have gas.....

Re: Fargen Mini Plexi

every boutique amp I've run across is a small fortune. the one exception seems to be Dr. Z. His stuff is about half way priced between the average mass produced and the average booteek maker.

Re: Fargen Mini Plexi

I think the Mini's and Mighty's go for $1100-$1300, which isn't bad, considering most circuit board Marshalls go for those prices. These are handwired one at a time.
Very cool amps. Plus, they match with Marshall cabs nicely, since they kept with the Marshall look.

Re: Fargen Mini Plexi

Looks like an awesome amp. But why on earth would you need 2 EL34's for 12 watts max? You'd hardly be getting anything out of those tubes.

But I'd love to try one of those out.
