Fat 50s with an SSL-5 in the bridge. Will I have Phase Problems?

I want to put Fender Fat 50s in the neck and middle position and an SSL-5 in the bridge. Will the pickups be in phase with each other? Will I have to switch the leads on the SSL-5? i know the polarity is south on all of the pickups, but not sure of the winding direction. What do i have to do to get these pickups to be in phase?

wire the fenders stock & wire the duncan in reverse.

If you do have phase problems they are easy to correct by reversing the leads.

Cool question - I am looking to wire up Fat 50s N/M and an SSL-3 in the bridge and now have my answer! Thanks!

That's what's cool about Strat pu's -- all phase problem solutions are just a lead-reverse away.

That'll be a killer soundng setup. That SSL5 is just hard to beat for a ballsy-yet-classic strat bridge pickup.

Hey Thomas.

I got your PM but figured I would answer here.

Nothing is reversed with my Fat 50's neck and middle and SSL-5. Blacks to the common ground, whites to the switch lugs. Simple as that. Everything should be fine.

I also did the neck/bridge switch. It takes a little getting use to. It's a strange, hollow sound that has a little less power and sustain as the bridge alone or neck alone, but it's really cool.

You're going to love this combination. I went through a lot of pickups but for the tone I was looking for in my number one, the Fat 50's neck is the perfect combination of ringing highs and guts. The SSL-5 fixed everything I hate about Strat bridge pickups.

Let us know how you like it.
