I wouldn't use a Alnico 2 Pro neck. Output wise is weaker than my Screamin' Demon and that's a very polite picmup. The Distortion would eat it.

You can shop floor custom Slash pickups in 4-con. I think the Alnico II Pro would be a good choice.

Last time I checked this, and I did check it, you COULDN'T order Slash sig pickups with 4 conductors. I even asked directly through the custom shop. Something about them being sig pickups and you cannot change the specs or construction of it because it would no longer be the sig pickups. Or at least you couldn't get the Slash logo on the baseplate. Unfortunately I can't remember if you could get "similar" (read: same) sounding pickups as the Slash ones without the baseplate.

Has this been changed?

In actually did some swapping with it. Put an A2 and an A5 in it in an effort to avoid buying another pup. Still wasn't what I was looking for. I understand that an unoriented mag will sound a bit different, but I'm at the end of my rope with this project and just want something that works.

As I understand it, a UOA5 is a blend of the best qualities of the A2 and A5. I just put one in a '59 neck and love it.

Yes, with probably a little more A2 influence than A5. It's a great magnet. There's certainly PU's where an A5 is too bright and thin, and an A2 is too warm and rounded.
