FAT sounding Tele bridge pups?

I want a really thick, fat sounding bridge pickup for my tele...

I have a '52 hotrod reissue tele, with a SD vintage mini humbucker in the neck (which I am very happy with) and a " Custom Vintage Tele Bridge Pickup" in the bridge, I can find almost no information on it, so I don't know any of the specs.

It sounds pretty hot to me, but it will clean up if you roll off the volume (a quality that I would look for in a replacement pickup as well) but it just has a little bit too much high end spank, which sounds cool clean but comes off as a weird grindy sound when gain is added

I am not looking for a humbucker, I still want it to sound like a Telecaster, I just want a more throaty, thick sound to it, like if David Gilmour played a tele...

Duncan Stack fro tele. I have the Duncan Designed version in my tele, and it's working great, though I may upgrade soon.

I have an example of the same guitar. Before spending any money on a pickup, get busy with a screwdriver.

Yeah, good plan! I always forget the good deal of change you can get out of a pickup height change. And the price is certainly right!

Man the stock g&l pickup in my asat classic is a ripper, nice and full with just a little sparkle to it. Altogether a full bodied muscular tele! ( I have had several, but this one and I are bonding nicely)

Get a tapped version, then you can have hot, and vintage, at the flick of a switch, or pull, if you prefer.

FWIW, he did....

One of my personal favorites when achieving the tone you're speaking of is the Rio Grande Muy Grande Tele bridge pickup. The Muy Grande is big-sounding and has a big bottom end without being muddy and a nice smooth top end. It also sounds really nice when some gain is added.

+1 The G&L, Asat Classic bridge pickup is my favorite Tele pickup.

ditto ... I currently have it in four guitars, two teles & two Esquires.
absolutely KILLER!!!!
very squishy, touch sensitive, and fun to play

call the Custom Shop and ask MJ ... she will wind a set, and the neck pickup is also killer ... I think it's alnico 5 (don't quote me), but it balances well with the alnico 2 of the bridge pickup ... probably because the neck position benefits from the presence of alnico 5. Definitely one of the best tele neck pickups I've played.

Yeah!

If you're gonna order the Tapped JB Tele lead pickup just spend the extra cash and get the matching neck pickup as well! It is alnico 5 and sounds fantastic with both taps of the lead coil.

Easily one of my fav Tele sets right there!
