can't stand phasers anymore. It was always a battle. Could never get subtle enough.

alnico speakers seem to have the effect of soothingly moving around a bit, and I think that is what I was actually trying to do with phasers

I've never, ever heard any speaker do what you are talking about...

When folks talk about the swirl in an alnico speaker it's not anything like a phase shifter...or any pedal modulation for that matter.

i chose 12 stage cos i like the wildness and vocality if i was to go for a pure phaser. I like the long discontiuned ph2 from boss.
However, for me, a univibe is so much cooler and more versatile than a pure phase sound, so my phasers sit in a briefcase unused.
Im guessing that the phase 90 will sweep this poll tho.

If you want subtle, Phase 45 is dope. I've got a nice '79 (non-RI) that's pretty cool.
If you just want plain awesome and versatile like a female yoga instructor, check out the Empress phaser. It not only has switchable 2 and 4 stage phasing, but also 3 stage phasing. There's so much awesome **** in that thing that it's midi controllable via an external device. The pedal is all analog, but digitally controlled. (lol)

for the record, I'm aware alnico speakers aren't a form of modulation. I didn't really think anyone might take me literally after all this time of sheer nonsensery coming from me.

voted Phase 90 as it's my fave, but I dig most phase sounds, as well as leslie, and univibe and whatnot.

as mentioned those old MIJ Boss phasers rocked. I used one for years.

My favourite is an old Maxon PT-999 that I got from a friend of mine. It's Phase 90-ish but sounds more musical to my ear. It's tough to explain.

I'd like to compare it to one of the reissues.

I choose the only other option 8 stage clean goodness I havent found a pedal i like for it yet closest i got was the awful boss ph-3 which gave me the flavour but its sterile so I use a Phase 100 and a PH-2 the former not phasey enough (too chewy still) and the latter is a bit too harsh wanna try the subdecay quaser!
