Aside from the poll, I have a different question entirely: how would you compare a Stratocaster and a Jaguar? I'm fond of Strats because they're so famous in the Rock & Roll/Blues industry, and because I really just love the steely, stable sound of them. I also like Jaguars and Mustangs because they've got similar pickups to a Stratocaster, but only two of them (I like the two-single-coil middle position sound, I just don't like Teles), and about a half-squillion more switching options. I'd say the pickups make the most of the difference in the sound (which is why I have to stick with these three), and the rest is a matter of style and preference in playability and accessibility - what do you prefer?

I personally can't make up my mind, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to stick with the 60's Strat.

Have fun!

Re: Favorite Fender Guitars

IDK how anyone in their right mind could not vote telecaster, but I think strat will win

Re: Favorite Fender Guitars

Invalid poll.

Your preamble mentions the outcome that you suspect is most likely. Including this prejudices the responses that you will get.

FWIIW, my favourite Fender electric guitar never had a name. The 1951 "NoCaster".

Who wouldn't vote Tele? Hmmm... Hendrix, Clapton, Blackmore, Beck, Trower, Malmsteen, Knopfler, Gallagher, Harrison, SRV, Gilmour, Johnson, Healey, Bolin, Guy, KWS, Winwood, and a bunch of other guys 'not in their right mind', who don't know as much as you do.

I nominate you for the prestigious 'Most Open-Minded Forum Member Award'.

Re: Favorite Fender Guitars

Two Starts and two Teles but I have the Strat strapped on me at this moment so...Strat.

Strats aren't just Fender's biggest seller, the design is the world's biggest seller. Leo hit a home run with this one. I don't know how anyone 'in their right mind' could argue otherwise.

Re: Favorite Fender Guitars

Stratocaster.

I've been a fan of Leo's creations since my first good guitar, a 1960 Duo-Sonic in Desert Tan. And then there was a 1960 Strat, a 1968 Tele Thinline, Music Man Sabre IIs, and now a big bunch of stratty G&Ls with one lone ASAT Deluxe. The Legacys, S-500s and Comanches feel like a part of me, and they always will. And they are just my perfect Strat; the dream guitar I've always wanted.

Re: Favorite Fender Guitars

Strat.

IMO it's the greatest electric guitar ever made, both physically and sonically. It just screams, "Guitar done right".

It doesn't fit me personally but, even I can appreciate greatness.

Re: Favorite Fender Guitars

Strat.

Of all the guitars I've used and recorded with over the years, perhaps one of the best sounding and playing is an old no name double fat strat copy that I refinished myself.

I knew there was one I was missing! I always thought it'd be really neat to have a Duo-Sonic. I love old guitars.

Lemme guess - you're a Les Paul guy? Got my arms around one a couple of times and didn't quite get what was so great about em. Though I do fancy the Memphis line - those burst buckets in a semi-hollow body, oh baby!

Dug yourself a hole with that one, mate. Sorry. Lots of big names played Teles too... I just can't remember most of them. B.B. King played one for a while, I thought, and Keith Richards too - apparently a Tele makes a hell of a club!

They're really big in country and pop it seems, probably because of the huge twang you can get with them. I thought they also sounded kind of raspy and thin, but sometimes I like that. In fact, I actually modified my Squier Stratocaster to have wiring options not all that different from a Telecaster - position two selects the neck and bridge pickups, plus I replaced the secondary tone knob with a bass cut to kind of thin out the sound (or clean it up if I'm on fuzz). I just like the astray pickups and body better, plus the tremolo.
