I've heard lots of good things about custom 5 but never tried or heard any clips...but it should be good...

i'm still in love with my JB.......however i'll probably throw a C-5 into my strat project!!!???

The Custom 5. I don't know how anyone could NOT like that pickup.

My second choice would be the Custom, then the JB.
I'd like the CC more if it had better highs.

Now that I have a Custom 4 in one of my Pauls, I'm starting to wonder if that's my favorite Custom. Too bad you can't just buy those! Nah, C-5. I still like it the best. How could you not like
big, tight lows, natural mids, and present, airy highs?
Are you stupid or something??????:D

The thing I like about the C-5 is it just sounds balanced. Great clean tone.........great, smooth high gain tone and a lead tone that makes you never want to put down your axe. And, remember, I have this in my Korean Dean. I know it would sound better in my Les Paul. It has enough oomph and power to rip out clear and fat harmonics......better than what I can get with my gibson BB Pros.

The DD and the JB. Alot of guys say med output pup for high gain, but i prefer hi output pups with hi gain. You can allways turn the gain down but you cant turn your p/u's output up. I know that had nothing to do with this topic but I just had to slip that in.

Tricky one this.......:?:

I'm a fan of all the Custom series, but the C5 is my fave at the minute, so it gets my vote.

The thing that is so nice about the C-5 is that it has a lot of clarity like a low output pickup, yet screams like a medium to high output pickup. I guess I consider it a hot medium.

I can get just as many harmonics as I can from the JB, the tone is very smooth and clear......let's you work the amp's controls to their fullest. I don't think it has quite the sizzle of the JB, but I think a lot of that sizzle is the high mids of the JB.

I have yet to try a Custom, but am worried I would find it more harsh than the C-5.

I recently did a test on several Duncans, and found them all to sound really good. But when we compared them to a pair of PAF's in an amazing LP. The choice was clear.... THe PAf's had so much warmth it started to warm the room!!!

Bro whadda you got "MAGIC C5's?
the one i tried was far from that description:dunno:

I'd have to say I love the Screamin' Demon the most, but since it isn't mentioned the JB is an excellent runner up and has been my favorite for a long time, untill I met the Demon that is :P:

Yes, Magic Custom 5's. Put one in a good guitar and the
awesome tone "magically" appears. Maybe Seymour knelt down
and kissed a few before they left the factory. That's gotta be it!
:D :D
