Favorite Humbuckers Split

Re: Favorite Humbuckers Split

The Air Zone does sound good split. The Custom is good too but can be really harsh on the high end depending on how the amp is dialed.
I don't know if I would spit a humbucker below the 10K mark myself. A couple exceptions that I have experience with are the PAF Pro, BB3 and '57 Classic. Crazy enough, they all sound really nice split with plenty of output.
It's going to take a lot to knock the Perpetual Burn off my list. The way it is wound and EQ'd makes it sound so great split.

The CC and the JB worked best for me split but they're not my favorite full on, go figure

59n splits well for me

Re: Favorite Humbuckers Split

I know that PAF types are considered too weak to split well, but I *really* like the PGb in my Nighthawk and the PG+ in my Mexi Strat. They blend well with the middle single, and, while pretty low output, they have a lot of pop and spank on their own.

I also really like the CC in my Godin and the PATB-1/PATB-3 in my Carvin.

The most convincing split tone I get is out of a Rio Grande Muy Grande 'bucker. It's thick and beefy when in full humbucker mode, and sounds like a great strat single when split.

Have to agree with you here. The Perpet I have in my 17 Kiesel with their Ap11 singles sounds amazing when in pos 2 have it set up to auto tap and it's just killer!!

I like the split Super Distortion and the split 59/Custom Hybrid (So the split Custom will be good as well)
