If you had to choose one desert island (assuming a power supply of course :p) TS ballpark mid-gain OD, what would it be?

Re: Favorite mid-gain OD pedal?

the kind that catches me fewd:p

honestly my mxr classic; i'm always on the fence about it because it's got so much output. i was thinking of selling that, but i'm not:)

Re: Favorite mid-gain OD pedal?

I've got a BBE Green Screamer that I like.

And the Digitech Bad Monkey gets a lot of love around here, too. Cheap!

"Guitar Player" gave an "Editor's Pick Award" to the Digitech Hardwire Valve Distortion pedal recently.

cochrane timmy. i love my barber ltd running at 18v for a low gain transparent od, the kot clean channel is money for a low gain, not as transparent od/clean boost but timmy can be as transparent as you want or not at all and adds anything from a clean boost to a great juicy overdrive that is very dynamic. plenty of gain on tap too

Re: Favorite mid-gain OD pedal?

im not sure if you meant TS style or just TS level of gain....but if you meant TS style then im gonna say analogman silver modded SD-1

Re: Favorite mid-gain OD pedal?

MI AUDIO Blues Pro!!!

also...

Ocean EFX Pearl Drive can get to medium OD...but i'd consider it a lighter OD than the Blues Pro...and i've grown to really, really L-O-V-E this pedal!!!

Re: Favorite mid-gain OD pedal?

I've really wanted to try an MI Audio pedal for a while.

Any love for the Fulldrive for the midhump, smooth OD sound?

Re: Favorite mid-gain OD pedal?

I am gonna say Bad Monkey. I KNOW there have to be better pedals out there, there just have to be.
And I have a plexitone, and a crunchbox.
But since I started running my marshall modded valve junior through a 1960 4x12, I really have only used the monkey. I need to find the time to thouroughly test all 3, since I need to sell 1 or 2 to fund my cab purchase. But I only get to run it every so often, and only for 30 minutes to an hour.
And I know the monkey into the amp sounds KILLER ! So I feel like I am wasting valuable jamming time to test out the others !
I WANT the plexitone to sound even more awesome, since that would give me basically 3 channels plus lead boost with just one pedal. Throw in delay, and wah and I should be set (I only use those every so often as well so they would not even be there most of the time)
but I also WANT the monkey to be all I need, since the plexitone would bring in the needed money to buy a cab !

Seeing that is has to be TS-based, i would go for this TS-eater :

check thegearpage...you can pick up a used Blues Pro for under a $100 bucks easy!!! i bought mine for stupid cheap!!!

there are two versions...a black knob version without the fuzz switch (i have that one and it runs a bit cheaper used) and a white knob version with a fuzz switch!

i can get more tones than you can imagine from that little three knob box! it can do the TS mid hump thing and it can do a much smoother Zendrive thing as well! can be used as a boost all the way through low gain and medium gain to the edge of high gain!

on a side note i've also owned the HBE Power Screamer and it was a great pedal as well...but i could get the same tones out of the Blues Pro+ more...so i traded it off...great pedal though...probably could get a bit grittier than the Blues Pro!?

here's a few i'll throw out there for ya to check out!

MI AUDIO BLUES PRO

RADIAL TEXAS BONES

MJM PHANTOM OVERDRIVE

RETROSONIC 808

T-REX ALBERTA

HBE POWER SCREAMER

Rocktron Austin Gold OD...mid gain and very transparent. You have to really like your amp to like this one.
