HH, HS or H, just no middle for me. A lowered and disconnected middle doesn't bother me at all.

HS like my old orange-crackle 88 Charvel is the best IMO, but that scheme just never seems to be an option anymore outside of custom stuff or models I just wouldn't go with.

Right there with you. I had to vote HH, but I also love a good SSS. But that doesn't mean I hate the others. But of course, the answer is to have several of each.

Charvel has some newer ones with H-S setup plus Fender Strats are pretty easy to get it with a new pickguard. I even think I saw a couple Mitchells at Guitar Center with it...granted with rails though.

Warmoth, Musikraft, USACG, etc. can get you but those are more "custom" like you said.

Definitely doesn't seem to be a popular setup as far as what is offered but I do think I am seeing more of them out there recently.

the perfect config would be HH with a neck H that really would do a split to single coil....a single coil neck is just so perfect for many solos and rhythms but then the H neck is too....NASA can't be very busy now with the shuttles gone...maybe some rocket scientists could come up with a pickup like this...

I had a stag mag in the neck in HH. Very nice imho.

Do what I did and drop two singles in neck.

Or stag mag. But that's practically same, except you won't have amount of choice you get with just two singles.

It's easier to tweak singles do humbucker tones than vice versa.
