Favorite noise maker pedal?

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

The Fulltone Ultimate Octave just sounds flat-out NASTY if you want it to. The Digitech Whammy pedal was always a favorite noisemaker of mine.

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

I like phasers, but there's a special place in my heart for envelope filters - my current favorite in my collection is a Boss TW-1 T-Wah (absolutely NAILS the lead part of Fire On The Mountain by the Grateful Dead), but I've also got a DOD FX25 (working) and a Boss FT-2 Dynamic Filter (not working).

The FT-2 seems pretty cool - every setting imaginable, as well as an expression pedal input, so it can act as a traditional wah pedal as well. One day I'll either fix it or replace it. I also used to have an EH Mini Q-Tron, which was also a kickass pedal, but I needed money one day, and since it was the only one in my collection that's still in production, it went to a friend of mine. I'm always on the lookout for a deal on an original Mu-Tron as well. One day, I'd like to own one of every different type of effect of this breed. Dreams. :>

Try an MXR Blue Box.... nasty.

Damn RIGHTS! I'm saving up for one, just for that set-ending nuclear blast.. if only to find a way around that damn volume cut, but I could just boost the signal.

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

Digitech Whammy & DOD Buzz Box... c'mon, how can nasty distortion + a completely random ring modulator not totally kick ass? :)

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

Oh, JB! Those Buzz Boxes are flippin' amazing. Designed by Buzz Osbourne, too, you KNOW it's gonna be ****ing insanity!

Edit: Stephen O'Malley swears by 'em. Wish I could find one, but the Blue Box does basically the same.

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

Bump for:
4ms (Phaseur, Noise Swash)
Studio Electronics (Ring Mod, Phaser)
ZVex (Fuzz Factory, Octane, Jonny Octave)
Red Witch (Moon Phaser, Fuzz God)
Effector 13 (Truely Beautiful Disaster, Any)
EHx (Flanger Hoax, Frequency Analyzer)

Anyone with experience with these... post away. (I pretty much get the Fuzz Factory, and I think I'll pick one up, but I'm trying to decide which 2 or 3 I want to get now)

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

also, an analog or modeling digital delay (I use a Line6 DL4) can make some awesome sounds if you change delay speed while repeats are at 100%...kinda sounds like fighting cats in a spaceship.

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

i like the rotary speaker on my POD (especially in stereo with 2 amps on opposite sides of the room) and/or volume pedal swells. those swells are soooooo eerie.

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

Well, I ordered:
Effector 13 - Truely Beautiful Disaster
Z. Vex - Fuzz Factory

I think I'm going to build/order/buy/etc. the 4ms Phaseur Fleur and Tremulus Lunus. THose are a bit pricey, so we'll see. I'd also really like to try a Flanger Hoax, but guitar center probably doesn't carry them. (Easy to buy and return if it's not my thing)

Re: Favorite noise maker pedal?

The god of all delay pedal's = Toneczar Echoczar with angelbaby attachment. It's really amazing. And it should be for around 1000 dollars and a year waiting list.

EDIT: I am thinking of ordering a Fuzz Factory, and now the ringtone is definatly on my wishlist. And the Truely Beautiful disaster looks pretty cool.

What type of music do you play.

I actually just saw those Toneczar pedals this morning, they look awesome. I'm pumped about the Fuzz Factory, I posted a while ago about the lead tones on the live Chili Peppers album and DVD (latest tour) and then I found a pic of his pedal board. I'm 95% sure those tones I loce are the Fuzz Factory.

I look at my play as the opposite of Gilmour. ;) Instead of a primarily blues based player in a progressive context, I'm a progressive player in a blues/punk/rock context. I'd LOVE to be in a band as an auxillary guitarist. Someone else to lay down the riffs and I add color over the top. (The Munky to someone else's Head :D)

Oh yeah, I need to add that I'm just as likely to go through a string of effects as plug straight in and play straight-up Led Zep/Sabbath style rock.
