Favorite pedals?

Question:
If you had to play a gig tonight and you could bring no more than five or six of your stompboxes, which ones would you have on the floor in front of you? Also, add a brief explanation as to why these are your go-to pedals.
Here's my list:
1) TC Jauernig DGTM overdrive (Great TS on roids tone)
2) Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic (more great OD choices)
3) Line 6 delay (can't beat the range of delay options)
4) MXR EVH 90 phaser (The Script setting is so cool I leave it on almost all of the time)
5) Crybaby 535Q w/Fasel inductor (wah doesn't get any better than that for me)

Re: Favorite pedals?

ok only 6 huh? ok
1- Boss MT-2 (can be a metal distortion and a super od pedal)
2- Boss Chorus CE-2 (this is a must coz´ the sound is freakin´ amazing)
3- Boss Giga Delay (the best delay ever made, i have tried the line6´s but its missing 20 secs in delay, is it too much i dont think so)
4- MXR phaser 90 orange machine (the best of the best)
5- Boss Super Shifter (i use many harmonies and sometimes the other guitar player doesnt do them coz he plays the rythms)
6- dunlop crybabay 95Q (i´ve use it and is a clear wah)
with killer amp aswell

Re: Favorite pedals?

I could do it with zero pedals...and probably would.

But if I HAD to bring some pedals or else they wouldn't let me play:

favorite fuzz: Fulltone 69
favorite wah wah: Fulltone Clyde
favorite overdrive/distortion: Boss DS-1

Re: Favorite pedals?

-Pro Co rat-All time fav distortion pedal...never leave home without it
-Vox Wah-love it as is...dead stock and still sounds pretty good
-Boss Octave-long time fav of mine...thickens up single note lines, makes fat ass riffs and is great for rude/nasty sounds

I could do a gig with just those 3 and be fine...to be honest I could do a gig with just the Rat and a good amp or if I took my Mission Amps Super I think I could the gig with just the amp, a cord and a few choice guitars.

If I were to add 3 more pedals to the 3 above I woudl take...

-Boss CE-2-fav chorus, sounds great clean or dirty and is not overbering
-Delay (usally a Boss DD-5) I don't use delay much but I like to have one around if thje mood strikes me
-Bixonic Expandora-secret wepon...killer overdrive, crunch and wacked out nasty fuzz tones all from one box. I love my Rat(s) but I could do a whole gig with just my Expandora and a Telecaster!

Re: Favorite pedals?

perfect...my new board only has 6 pedals on it LOL...

guitar into...boss TU-2 floor tuner...Morley tremonti wah...Digitech whammy...boss OC-2 octave...into amp

in the loop...line 6 mm4....line 6 dl4

that's all i need, the 2 line 6 pedals cover pretty much everything.

Yep...all my amps sound like that! That's why all I really need is a cord. :laugh2: So: you getting used to squeezing those notes out like toothpaste from a tube? :) Lew

Lew,

My speakers should be here tomorrow so I will spend the weekend breaking in the speakers but I will tell you (what you know) no other amp I have ever owned works like this one...with all myh other amps I play the guitar and the amp makes it louder. With the Super I use the guitar to play the amp and I love it! I think Im gonna get a 5E3 Deluxe from Bruce later on this year to use with the Super or maybe an Aurora...I really like the ideas in that amp!

Re: Favorite pedals?

I'd only bring pedals if I had to play with crappy amps. My list:
-Boss DS-1 stock (mostly as a solo boost)
-Fulltone OCD (for a good crisp sounding overdrive/distortion that's true bypass)
-Maxon AD999 (for added depth to riffs or solos)

Aside from that there wouldn't really be anything I'd need, perhaps a wah which would be an Automagic SM2 or a tuner. But for most of my own stuff I'd get by, by using the first three pedals

Re: Favorite pedals?

I could drop it down to two pedals.... but we'll go with five...since that's about how many I use almost

Teese RMC1 wah
Ibanez TS9
Fulltone Fulldrive 2
Boss DD-3
Boss TU-2

very simple rig :) the only way this deviates from my normal setup is in my normal setup I also have an ernie ball vp jr. volume, mxr dyna comp, and a line 6 MM4

Re: Favorite pedals?

A Line6 Delay. Not the echo park, the DL4 with the looper. Loops are a huge part of what I do, so I need a decent looper when I perform The DL4 is the best small looper out there.

Re: Favorite pedals?

Boss PS-3 Pitchshifter/Delay (Does Delay, Flanging, Chorus, Reverb, PitchShifting . . . I can always find a use for this pedal)
Boss BD-2 Blues Driver (Does my buddy guy/jimmy hendrix/jimmy page stuff)
Dunlop 535Q Wah (Dependable and easy to tweak, Needed for reggae/funk)
Marshall ED-1 Compressor (Need this for funk/Santanaish Solos)

Those are really the only pedals that I use all the time . . .

Re: Favorite pedals?

my seldom used pedal board has

boss tu2 tuner
spina wah pedal
vox valvetone overdrive
whirlwind a/b/y box for selecting one or both amps
h&k rotosphere

its fun and sounds great but i only use it playing in a three piece. usually its two 12' cables, a tuner, and a deluxe.

Re: Favorite pedals?

My home made RAT pedal is really a phenomenal pedal....After that I also could get by with just RID's amazing "Plexitone" pedal through my Marshall...

Re: Favorite pedals?

Right now I have five....

EHX Big Muff (original 70s) - Dark and bassy fuzz
Boss FZ-2 Fuzz - Scooped, grungy sounding fuzz
Boss BF-2 Flanger - For those times you don't want your cleans to sound chorused.
Boss DD-20 Delay - 'Cause delay sounds good, and the presets are handy
Boss CE-2 Chorus - For those times you don't want your cleans to sound flanged.

Re: Favorite pedals?

Boss CS-2 Comp/Sust -Excellent pedal, gives my guitar the loose sound I like with a sharp ice-pick attack.

Akai E2 Headrush Delay/Tape Loop -my personal favorite, I anywhere from 2-5 amps at a time with this pedal. I connect each amp to the Tape Loop OUTs with a Boss DD-5 running in the chain, and and sometimes a 4th amp for the MIX OUT to get a pure signal.

Boss TU-2 -cant gig without this.

and my main amp channel/reverb switch.

that's about it.
