Favorite Pick(s)

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

I like Dunlop Green or Blue Tortex usually. But I have some silver and copper plectrums that were made by a Native American artist...those are interesting to work with.

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

Jazz III's for everything.... Preferably the Carbon Fibre Max Grips....

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

I have a ton of different picks and do tend to change picks from time to time for different tones but most of the time and unless I need a completely different attack I use Jazz III's but next in line is plain old Fender Celluloid picks...I lived the 451's but they did away with them so I guess 351's most often however after getting used to Jazz III's a Fender 351 feels HUGE...like playing guitar with a pie plate!

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

I have recently discovered Dunlop herco gold flex 50s and really like them. Tortex .50 and .60 had been my staples before

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

Dunlop blue Tortex 1.0mm. I like different picks and have a little bowl full of them, but the bowl next to it is full of the blue Dunlops. They've become a constant homebase pick for me.

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

I use Tortex Standard .88's for my go to pick, but I do love trying different ones. As long as I can get it in a .88 gauge (pretty much only Dunlop picks), then I'll try it.

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

I usually use the planet waves black ice 1.10mm picks. They're the perfect size and shape for me and they dont sound as scratchy as most picks i've tried for fast alt picked stuff. They also wear down a lot slower than most picks too.

However i got the emg het set yesterday that came with the black fang pick which is 1.14mm and it was just instantly comfortable and sounded great. Once i've gone through the 100bag of black ices i may consider switching. That is if the black fangs hold up on the wear front.

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

Dunlop Jazz III. Perfect size that lets only a tiny bit stick out from my thumb, and the articulation when I play one hasn't been matched by any other pick I've ever tried.

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

Most Versatile: Planet Waves "Black Ice" in 1.10 - Essentially a larger Jazz III (half-way between the standard Jazz III and the Jazz III "XL" in size).

Best Value: Dunlop Jazz III Tortex 1.0 - sharp point, sits in between the Jazz III and the Black Ice, size-wise.

Best Grip: Dunlop Jazz III Max-Grip - sometimes, too much grip :)

Best Full-Size: Dunlop "Black Fang" Ultex 1.14 - nicely finished tip, good feel when playing.

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

Standard Tortex 1.14 on electric (reddish purple), standard blue Dava Control on SS acoustic, fingers on bass and nylon. been using them since the mid 90s or so.

That said, I´ll often use different picks depending on the tone I´m looking for when recording.

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

Credit card picks for me. Don't know why, just haven't found anything else I like. Other than the dunlop orange tortex

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

I've used many picks in my 25 years of playing. Lately I've been preferring these. They are Traynor picks @ 0.96 mm thickness. And they come in Ventura green!

Re: Favorite Pick(s)

Of all the picks I've tried, my favorite is Fender Heavy. Feels good, plays well, and the thickness is great for all the heavy rhythm stuff I do, and also works nicely for soloing. I've also got some Fender Mediums that I like.
