Favourite recording software?

Re: Favourite recording software?

Pro Tools compares but the interface isn't as simple or organized and it's too hardware specific.

What a winner.

Dude...

"Pro Toolz" software has been connected to the hardware since the very inception... at least two decades.

So that means it was that way before you were even an itch in 'yer Daddy's crotch...

Carry on.

All of the popular DAW's are more or less the same...

Re: Favourite recording software?

i like sonar, it handles VSTs much more intuitively than say cubase..

Can you explain what you mean? Steinberg invented the VST format... I can't imagine them handling them un-intuitively. I have no problem with my VST plugins and instruments with Cubase.

Re: Favourite recording software?

I use RiffWorks. It's a nice, simple program and is very guitar player friendly. No manuals, just plug in, pick Line 6 amp model, a drum preset and go. I use it a lot for demoing songs to bring to my band and just coming up with and keeping ideas. (as well as some goofy experimental stuff) It's not something you'd use in place of a studio for recording a full band, but as a guitar player/songwriter it's almost like a sonic notepad - and it's easy to make something sound good with little effort.

Re: Favourite recording software?

I use Reason 4 re-wired into pro tools for all my non guitar or bass sounds. It has some incredible sounds on it. Plus it looks pretty.

FYI, SONAR's ReWire support is fantastic. If you ever get sick of ProTools for some reason, I highly recommend it.

i tried using ezdrummer with cubase after a few months using sonar.. jees. what a clusterf***. opened up 8 channels when i'd specified stereo, wouldn't output to the 8 channels when i chose seperate channels- maybe there's a platform-specific patch for cubase, but christ almighty!

plus sonar has fewer options with regards to views of the window, i've played around a fair bit and made tracks with ezdrummer and guitar rig - i just prefer sonar - by a long shot. i'll keep trying cubase as well, but if i need to record something right now, it's sonar that gets the nod.

Odd, I've always used EZDrummer with Nuendo and never had a problem. It's incredibly easier than Sonar. I recorded the second Seraphim album in Sonar and it was the biggest pain in the butt ever. Nuendo is a million times better BUT requires a much higher learning curve.

Re: Favourite recording software?

Been using Adobe Audition since it was cool edit pro v.1

I use Reason for MIDI control. This program is ridiculous to be honest. I thought ableton was OK, then I got reason and was just BLOWN away

Re: Favourite recording software?

My favourite so far has has been Tracktion. It's very simple and quite stable too. I guess that for more hi-end users it can be a bit limited but for my uses it's just fine. And it came free with my Mackie interface.
