Feedback Problems

Hey guys...I'm having a problem...more so annoying problem. I'm running a Framus Diablo Custom and a Les Paul, both with a SH6 Distortion Plus in the bridge, a couple effects...and a Mesa Boogie Road King. When I'm playing and I've got chokes or stops to play, I get a low frequncy howl...some sort of feedback. At first I thought it was my tremolo springs vibrating and that's where I was getting that resonance at higher volumes. So I added another spring to change the tension on the springs, and added some padding to my springs to deaden any vibrations...still got the low frequency feedback. The only way that I have found to kill that feedback problem is to roll back my volume on my guitar a little bit... This is getting to be quite annoying...anyone have any idea's what else to try?

Re: Feedback Problems

if you play loud, then you might need to add a noise gate to your set up...off the top of my head thats what id check out 1st since the feedback goes away when you roll off the volume

Re: Feedback Problems

Well I do have a noise suppressor in my effects...the Boss whatever. That is always on, only because I pick up a little buzz from the cords an power crossing whatever number of times...but that's at the end of my rig, and the send goes right back into the return with a single patch cable...otherwise my rig is dead quiet even on my highest gain channel on my amp.

I don't know what else to say. I only get the sound when I'm practicing with the band or out gigging and I have my amp turned up a little more. And only when I do stops or chokes...roll back the volume on the guitar a little bit...everything is fine. I just hate having to turn up my volume on my guitar...and roll back a little bit to know I'm safe every time. And it's worse when other guys sit in and play my rig...cause they don't know, and they turn up the volume on the guitar....and then we get the low frequency howl/feedback. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my pickups...cause when I roll back the gain from them (AKA the volume control) is when everything is fine. What exactly does this re-waxing and stuff like that have to do with pickups?

Re: Feedback Problems

Grab your pickup and see if that makes the howling stop.

If so, figure out how to solid mount it.

Re: Feedback Problems

if it needed to be re-wax potted then id expect more of a high pitch sqeal feedback so i don think its that.

memphis' idea is a good one, i never thought if that.

Re: Feedback Problems

How high is your gain? Turn it down a little bit, see if it goes away. Check for microphonic preamp tubes by tapping very lightly with something like a pencil, they might be picking something up from the vibration of the amp.
