Feel dumb for asking this but..

..I've never had an amp with as many features as my Mesa Tremoverb.

I just had a quick question about foot switching with the trem and verb portions of the amp. I'm using the mesa footswitch to the front of the amp to control the channels. In the rear of the amp and two external switching jacks, one for trem, one for verb.

Would I have to buy two seperate footswitches and run the cable for both (so in essence cabling 3 different footswitches to my PB) or can I get a dual footswitch and us that for the verb and trem. If so, which one would i plug it into?

Thanks in advance guys!

Re: Feel dumb for asking this but..

If there are separate jacks then you need to plug into both.

What I would do, which is what I have done on many amps with separate footswitch jacks, is to use a dual footpedal which has a stereo plug for both of the effects (like a peavey footswitch).

Then inbetween that stereo plug of the footswitch and the amp's footswitch jacks I use a stereo jack to 2 separate plugs adapter cable. They make these adapters with both 1/4" mono phone plugs or RCA plugs, whatever your amp requires. I pick them up at Radio Shack.

Re: Feel dumb for asking this but..

I used a Morley dual footswith (it had 2 out jacks) to switch the verb and trem on my old t-verb.
I don't know if they still make it. You could use 2 single footswitches, but I don't think any stereo plug thing will work.

Re: Feel dumb for asking this but..

Yeah actually all the little individual footswitches (or cabling etc) you need to control the T Verb was always something that got on my nerves lol

A lot of hassle, and if you use the little Mesa boxes, I GUARANTEE you will somehow kick it out of reach during a rockin' performance

Re: Feel dumb for asking this but..

Thanks for the responses guys.

I figured it wouldn't be something easy. I suppose controlling the verb isn't of the up most importance, the trem is what I want control over.

OlinMusic, my little mesa box for the clean/dirty is held down with industrial strength velcro i use at work to hold partition walls up (overkill? :firing: )

Re: Feel dumb for asking this but..

No use, man. You might as well give it back to me!!! Hahaha! Good luck with it. I was experiencing a similar problem while I had it. Have you asked Mesa if the other, bigger footswitches are compatible?

Yeah, this is the answer. A 2 button footswitch. On the other end of the stereo cable, use a Y cable, which splits it out to 2 mono male jacks.

yea that's the best solution.. that way you have one cable for the verb/tremelo instead of two.. I would make sure to get a Y cable with different color mono male jacks (a lot of them are black/red) so that you remember which one goes in trem and which one goes in verb because it could get confusing with those stereo plugs

Re: Feel dumb for asking this but..

the stereo cable with the y adapter does sound like a good idea.. a friend of mine has a 2 button fender switch, i can test is out with that before i go out and buy.. thanks guys

And paytojt. No chance my friend! (p.s. i just figured out 2 days ago that the casters click in place on the bottem :smack: )
