feeler sale question?

I have a Gibson '76 Explorer Reissue that I wanna sell.

I installed a pair of custom shop SD Blackouts that I want to keep. Problem is, I don't have any replacement pups to put in it.

Would a guitar without pickups even sell?

How much $$ would I lose becuz of the absence of pickups?

Should I just buy a set of cheapie pickups for the sale? If so, what would you recommend?

All the hardware, pots, knobs, and everything would be included. Just no pickups.

Thanks,

~Lex

Re: feeler sale question?

I recently bought a Tele and specifically requested the buyer keep his pickups, since I had the pickup I wanted to use in my parts drawer. He gave me some $$ off the price, and everybody came away happy.

Around here, I think it would be no problem. On eBay, I think the lack of pickups is going to hurt you.

Re: feeler sale question?

Agreed, people usually offer to knock the price down by $100-200 or so depending on the pickups. People on forums are usually tweakers with pickups laying around anyways, so it's not such a big deal.

Re: feeler sale question?

Check the trading post area and get a couple pickups. Put em in & you should easily get your money back. You could go with the 490R * 498T which was probably what originally came in it. Or you could pout a set of 57 classics in. Ha wants you do you may not want to sell it.

Re: feeler sale question?

I've got a set I took out of my 76 reissue that I'll sell you. They're the ones with the gold poles. Is that what you need? I think they are a 500T/496R set. At least that way the guitar would be back to it's original state.

Thanks, but I 'customized' this guitar a while back and swapped all the hardware to chrome.

I'm gonna see if anyone is interested in buying it without pickups.

Thanks anyways!

Here's what it looks like now... an official for sale thread will be created when I get some better pix.

Re: feeler sale question?

7.50!

Seriously... Good luck with the sale. If I had the $$ it would be on my radar. I Love Explorers.

Re: feeler sale question?

If it was cheap enough, I'd be interested without the pickups. I just got my 2006 white one for $600 via San Diego Craig's List, so it'd have to be cheaper than that to interest me. I also don't like natural finish or rosewood boards on Explorers. I'd probably jump for $450 just to have a backup. They go for $700 to $800 on E-Bay in nice shape.

Decided to sell with the pickups after all, eh? Good move if you want to get a fair amount for it.
