Fell in love with the X2N, but which neck pickup?

I bought a MIJ Charvel SoCal hat came with a X2N in the bridge, and I've found out I really like it!

But which neck to pair with it? I'd love to get a neck pickup that looks just like it. Maybe another X2N wired in parallel? BTW mine is all black - bobbins and rails.

Thanks!

D-Activator neck.

Yeah, I think your options are pretty limited if you want it to look like it. D-Activator X Neck, D-Activator X Bridge, or another X2N. I think the D Activator X Neck would be the most sensible choice, but honestly, I don't see why another X2N wouldn't work.

DA-Xn is very good in brighter guitars, or at least guitars that are not overly boomy in the lows.
It's a ceramic neck. I would not say it's good for bubbly warm cleans,,,,,more of a shredder neck with tamed output.

The Super 2 pairs well with it. Also, Mike Romeo from Symphony X uses a Tone Zone in the neck with his bridge X2N.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep my eyes open for any of these, but the DA-Xn seems high on the list.

Evo neck has all black hex stock so it would match well for looks. It's ceramic too and is designed to pair well with a bright scorcher.

that X2N is awesome though!! I put one in my charvel model 1 and it is pretty killer.

Re: Fell in love with the X2N, but which neck pickup?

Lately I was wondering if this would nice nice :

Neck: SD + Bridge X2N

???

Re: Fell in love with the X2N, but which neck pickup?

Be man - just use the bridge X2N!

Re: Fell in love with the X2N, but which neck pickup?

Get 2 X2Ns and crush your enemies!

Done. Just ordered a second one on ebay.

I'm thinking of wiring the neck in parallel, and the bridge in series. Good idea? Or just both in series?

I guess I'll have to try it out.

I think that might be what I currently have. It certainly looks like an SD, dual rows of chrome allen heads. In circuit, the neck reads 12.74K and the bridge X2N reads 15.52K

This is in a MIJ Charvel SoCal. Anyone know what the stock DiMarzio's were?

Re: Fell in love with the X2N, but which neck pickup?

I would definitely wire a neck X2N in in parallel.

Parallel might be the best bet, but series would probably work if kept a bit lower.

Re: Fell in love with the X2N, but which neck pickup?

I actually wired an X2N with an on/on/on switch for series/Parallel/split and it REALLY opened this thing up as a super-flexible pickup.

I would never use it in the neck in series. But in either parallel or split it might be awesome. The thing is so powerful that in parallel it still does ok. Split gives a kind of Texas Special Strat vible IMO. I say wire the bridge that way too.

I used DiMarzio Choppers in neck/middle with it in a Kramer Superstrat

This. I've only used the X2N in the bridge, but yeah, the neck especially will benefit from having the switching!
