Fende r Road worn Series

I like the feel of some of the necks on these road worn guitars, but the way they sand all of the finish off of the frets looks totally bogus. All of the maple neck strats have almost all of the finish between say the 13th and 19th frets sanded off. That is definitely not the way finish wears off of a maple neck. And they sand the finish off of all the guitars exactly the same way. Kind of funky. I can hardly wait to see one for sale with "all the case candy" or the plastic film still on the pickguard.

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

You all know by now that I'm an avid relic fan ;)

But I honestly have to say that I think the Road Worn series, produces to a price and at such a mass that everyone and his mom will own one, will kill the whole relic trend in a few years.

Sad...

Man, I'm glad somebody brought this up. We've been meaning to talk about this.

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

my brother and i went to GC the other day, and they have the road worns right out front, and i saw the front one and was like WOW that looks good, but then its weird cause there are 5 more behind it that are identical.

i think they would be really badass if they skipped the sanding part

you missed the one that was in the scratch and dent clearance at musicians friend then, lol.

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

i still think the 50's strat with the lack of finnish is one sweet feeling neck... that V shape 50's neck raw like that with the large 6105 frets do feel nice... i'm not even a relic fan but i sure do like the necks on that model!

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

i wonder who's gonna be the first to buy one and un-relic it?

ha ha ha ha... could be the new cool way of guitar modding... make a guitar look new instead of beating it into a turd... oh the irony

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

FMIC would be better off just selling the parts: Road Worn necks! Bodies! Trem tips! Add a bit of crass to your Squier Starter Pack Christmas present!

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

I played a few and yeah, the relic thing is cheesy and the price is too high for what it is. But the necks were very nice on most I played and I may look for a used one in a year or two...no matter what they did to it, it has to look better than my old Strat.

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

that V Neck on the 50's strat is nice!!! is the V Neck on the Jimmy Vaughn shaped like that... if it is i may have to have another look at those...

i'm wanting a Clapton strat some days as well....

Totally agree! I really like em and probably will get one.

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

As hilariously retarded as I find the notion, I have seen relic jobs that I'd have a hard time telling from an old guitar. The Road Worn series are NOTHING like those. They have the most bizarrely synthetic look to them. They'd hardly be cheesier if Fender had just put stickers all over them.

Re: Fende r Road worn Series

I do not like the look of them, it's just doesn't look genuine at all. However, I have to agree... the neck on the one I played felt great... that part was actually really surprising. I do like some relics (however, I don't and probably never would buy one, but I might make one as a project) just not these relics...
