Fender 12 String Electric

What was the Fender 12 String that looked like a Jazzmaster with a paddle/hockeystick headstock and offset pickups? Fender XII? When was it made and was it ever reissued? What other Fender 12 String Electrics have existed over the years?

They had a 12 string Strat out a couple of years ago. I should have bought one. That's the only recent thing I know of. I don't know hardly anything about Fender.

IIRC, it was a double neck SG wasnt it? 12 on top 6 on the bottom?????

No, that was special ordered from Gibson to play Stairway live. It was either out of production or nearly out if production due to low sales. Of course after Page had one, every other Rock Gawd needed one and the rest is history.

I wonder if the original was on a Dano?

Naw, the studio version. I think he might have borrowed the 12 string guitar (may not have even been a Fender?) from some dude...or was that the acoustic...or was it both?

Fender Electric XII was it's offical name, and it is in fact what Jimmy used on Stairway. They came out in the late 1965 and was discontinued in late 1969, most of them floating around seem to be from 1966 FWIW...

They were never reissues but for a similar tone look into the Squire Vista Series Venus XII...they (the Venus) are rare and cost a fair bit for a non US built/non vintage Fender but the pickups are actually pretty good and very close in design/tone to the older Electric XII pickups.

Sorry to keep on changin the subject you Detroit Lion...lol...Anyways, does anyone know what kinda 12 string Eddie played on "Secrets" off of Diver Down? I know he played the doubleneck yellow Kramer for the live shows.
