Re: Fender 2006

well i have to think of price and i have always enjoyed the American Standard series.... But the new improvements to the HWY1 series make it a real winner...

Re: Fender 2006

MIM. Big frets, better pickups and a bigger trem block on a strat really make it a good value and a good all around axe. If they had come with 22 frets, I'd probably have a MIM tele in my stable at this point. :burnout:

Re: Fender 2006

+1 on the MIM Standards. Bigger frets, hotter pickups, two new colors, bigger block on the strats. Much cooler guitars now.

I just can't get enough of the American Series. I want one more.

Re: Fender 2006

Their cheapo brand Squire put out the best deals . . . Between the '51 Squire guitars and the Squire Vintage Modified basses they were making a lot of decent instruments available to people without much budget.

Re: Fender 2006

My favorite is the new Ash Deluxe Tele w/52 U neck.

Normally, my favorite Fenders are just well setup Am Series w/aftermarket pickups installed. I saw a lot of lemons in 2006 though. I think the 96 - 2004 Fenders were a little better. Something happened in 2005 and 2006, because the wood and setups I've seen aren't as good as usual. Maybe I just stumbled upon a lot of bad ones in a row?

Re: Fender 2006

They need to put out another 12" fingerboard radius guitar. I think it should be in the Deluxe series (MIM) but unlike the deluxe players strat, have an alder body.

ya for sure the 2006 year was an important one for the MIM Standard series.... you guys are going to think i'm nuts but about 2-3 years ago i wrote Fender an email saying that i was a hobbiest guitar repairer and collector that searched out used instruments for cheap that need repair... I wrote them and said in my area i am finding lots of MIM Standards that are well used and abused but being sold for cheap as it is cheaper to sell an old one and buy a new one then it is to have to refrett one.... the mini vintage frets wear out quicker i guess and have less life after so many dresses... Anyways i suggested that since the MIM Standard is the Standard many working musicians use on a budget that a larger fret would help make these instruments last longer in players hands before such an expensive repair bill....

I never heard a responce but in some small shape and way i feel they may of listened to me... -(ya right :) ) and maybe they recieved many e-mails saying the same thing... Larger Frets larger frets....

once they hit the shelf i needed to get one... took my a little longer to find one... But a Standard strat came in with a highly flamed neck and a nice Blue Mettalic paint.... hmm had to have it... and it is my Best MIM Strat and i now own a few.... It is a great guitar... hope one day i can find another one that is as responsive as this one... Most i try out in the store are not as nice as mine for some reason

Re: Fender 2006

None of the above -- if price is not an issue, then it's the Custom Shop Dealer Select Wildwood 10 series.
