Fender Atomic Humbucker

I installed a Fender American Strat humbucker, also known as an Atomic Humbucker, and I have got to tell you that it's one unique humbucker. It's very unforgiving, tight, good bass, a brilliant and smooth presence, and low output like a P90.

This pickup is so unforgiving I almost don't like it, but it does have a really great tone. The tone is very open and uncompressed or up-front, and it feels really tight. If you don't fret the notes right, it will not sustain, but when you play well, it sounds awesome.

It's extremely responsive to how you attack the strings with the pick. I think this pickup would sit well in a mix. It's a great pickup to use split. In fact, it's awesome split into single coil mode.

I'm not sure it's my flavor yet, but it's a brilliant pickup. If you want something different, tight, and very dynamic then this one a pickup to get.

Re: Fender Atomic Humbucker

Near as I can remember, the Atomic Humbucker is Fenders take on the JB. 16.4k with an A5 magnet. It should have more output than a regular p90. How close do you have it to the strings?
