Fender Bandmaster and Showman questions

I have a couple questions... What is the Difference between a fender Bandmaster and a Fender showman?? Do they sound much different that a Bassman?? I am really wanting to get a vintage fender head for my rig. I currently use a Fender Twin and I want to keep a very similar sound, but I want to be able to use either a 4x12 or 2x12 cabinet. I have played a fender Bassman through a closed back 212 cab and really liked it. Any help with these questions would be great.

Re: Fender Bandmaster and Showman questions

A Bandmaster is 50w while a Showman is 100w. Pretty much the same circuit, Just different transformers.

There are some differences but for the most part the tone is very similar...

If you're using a twin reverb now get a silver face Dual Showman Reverb...it IS a Twin in a head OR just order a head cab from Mojotone and drop in your twin chassis...

Re: Fender Bandmaster and Showman questions

As TGWIF suggested. Get the Showman Reverb. Great amp. Its a Twin in a head. The only concern you have to have is what speakers in the 2 12" The Showman is either 80W or 100W depending on the era. If you are using a 4 12" it should not be a problem, but if you have a 2 12" you want to make sure the speakers in that won't blow under the wattage of the Showman. The original Showman cabinets had 2 15" JBL speakers. I believe thay were the JBL D-130F.

Re: Fender Bandmaster and Showman questions

man those showman amps are crazy loud! a buddy of mine told me the story about how he was playing bass in a band in the 70's and he was playing through a dual showman into one of those big vertical 2x12 cabs. halfway through the show he felt something nudging him in the back, turned around and it was the amp!! The vibration of the speakers had caused the amp to "walk" up the stage towards him and it started pushing him in the back!
