Does anyone have much experiance with this amp? I can get one for £500 ($950 approx.) used. Bearing in mind that everything has about at least a 15/20% markup price in the U.K, is this a good price?

Oh yeah, and another thing. What's the headroom like with this amp? I'd be getting it pre-dominately for the cleans and would want to go pretty loud while staying crystal.

even with the mark up I think thats a little high...they go here in the states for around $600.00 used. But as for the amp, most people buy them for a crunch tone but IMO the clease are great...I love Tweed Fenders...what do you want to know?

Just how highly you rate it. I want to get a second amp to use in conjunction with my my Marshall JTM60. Basically what I want to do to run the Fender straight from the guitar on cleanish setting, then use my Marshall as my channel switching amp with all my effects. I've never quite been happy with the clean from my Marshall but I really like how it sounds with an O/D pedal.
Ultimately, what I'm looking to do is run my clean sounds a little bit dirtier and my dirty sounds a little bit cleaner. I stole this idea from Gearjoneser, something he said on another thread.
To be honest though, as much as anything else, I just want the pose factor of using two amps on stage, hehe.

tweed Fenders have a good clean tone, but IMO they are best used for overdrive and crunch...if you want a Fender amp for cleans look at a black face or a silver face, or a black face reissue...that is not to say that a tweed bassman does not have a clean tone, but it doesn't have a lot of headroom, and will start to breakup kind of early, even more so with buckers...as for how highly I rate them...the tweed bass man is on my want list, I love them...one of the best overfdrive/crunch tones ever!

eh, i'd go by the condition of the tubes
if it's a year old & hasn't been retubed - don't get it
and I'll hafta agree, they're best known for crunch tones, but the cleans are great, throw in some 7581's & the only thing you'll hafta worry about is speaker distortion, though
