Fender Deluxe Drive Pickups

Hi folks,

For several years, Fender offers Deluxe Drive pickups for Strats and Teles. According to specs, they have high winds, but weaker Alnico 3 magnets. The YouTube demo is good, but has anypone tried them in person? Especially, it is interesting how can they be compared to Texas Special?

I believe they are post 2005 Highway One pickups. The published specs are identical in every way. I have a set of those that came with my Highway One. I replaced them but then put them back in. I've always liked their tone and behavoir with higher gain levels. Not too glassy when clean but pretty good pickups nonetheless.

They are overpriced as 'Deluxe Drive" sets.. Post 2005 pickups are out there, used, at the usual places...ebay, Reverb.

They cost about 80 bucks for a set. Or even less.

MAP was $129. It looks like there being discontinued. Online retailers show them as "no longer available". Amazon has a few left.

There are plenty of them on Ebay, and Fender site still carries them.
