Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

Hmmm... I thought it sounded good on it's own and I've never heard of mods to these before, perhaps someone else can chime in...

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

I dunno mabye people dont. I just remember hearing about people changing the speaker and tubes for whatever reason.

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

I looked online and found some sites with mods to the amp...

In terms of speakers and tubes... I thought the stock speaker was fine and tubes can always be messed with... Is there something you're not liking about the amp?

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

those are common mods to most any amp. in general, changing preamp tubes will change the gain characteristics, powertubes will change the overall feel and some of the EQ, while a speaker changes the tone considerably, in a number of ways depending on what speaker you get.

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

If we're talking a reissue clip the brite cap, put some good tubes in it and drop the satock speaker and replace it with a G12H30 or a Eminince Can Rex and call it a day.

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

Now, how would the Eminence Can Rex react to high gain pedal tones? Also what brand of tubes would you recommend?

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

the rex is great with high gain. the drri itself isnt the best amp for high gain but the rex is a big improvment over the stock speaker.

if you want classic 6v6 tone look at nos or tung sol's. if you want something less 6v6 like but louder and tighter then the jj is a cool option. for preamp tubes there are lots of good options out there.

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

Thanks guys! The drri already sounds monster through an xotic ep and a lovepedal redhead. Im excited to hear how it sounds with these mods.

Re: Fender deluxe reverb upgrades

Deluxe reverb....i agree with jeremy...tungsols in the front end and jjs in the power section. But swapping tubes is not really a mod....
