Re: Fender Deluxe Reverb vs. Vibrolux Custom?

The Deluxe is a pretty much straight reissue, the Vibrolux on the other hand has little in common with a middle 60's Vibrolux...it's actually based on a early 60's 2x10 Vibroverb but it's been changed and hot rodded a bit...IMO the new Custom Vibrolux has less headroom than a Deluxe Reissue! I know that sounds crazy but the CVR was sort of designed with overdrive in mind.

The CVR is crunchy and has more midrange content than the Deluxe it also have a completely different tremolo...the Deluxe is opto coupler like most BF and SF Fenders while the CVR is bias modulation, also the reverb on the CVR leaves a lot of players wondering why Fender changed it...it's a vary mild reverb when compared to typical Fender reverb and just so yo know the CVR has no negative feedback loop and makes quite a bit of noise because of it...

I had a CVR for a while, never could get used to it and sold it...I'd much rather use a DRRI if it were me...of cource I feel that the DRRI's need a few tweakes to sound their best but I still prefer them to the CVR...

All that said, if you're looking at new Fender amps don't overlook the Supersonic...those are pretty cool...nice clean channel that sounds like an old school Fender when you crank it and a drive channel thats pretty hot and sounds pretty good...add reverb and a Celestion speaker and the combo is a killer package!

christian to the rescue as usual!

I'm not going to bother with the vibrolux....however you piqued my interest on the Supersonic. i definitely need the sparkly Fender cleans...my R6 is calling for it!!!

The clean channel on the Super Sonic has 2 modes...BF Vibrolux and BF Bassman...now, I won't say that it nailes either but both are pretty dang good, add to that a pretty killer drive channel and it's golden. The combo has built in reverb and a V30 stock...can't beat that!
