Fender DH-1 = Duncan Pearly Gates?

Re: Fender DH-1 = Duncan Pearly Gates?

I'm always surprised when I see people calling the PG+ "too bright & shrill" in a strat with 250k pots. I have an American Texas Special Fat Strat, and when switching to the bridge pup it gets louder and much, much thicker and darker than the neck & mid pups; I want to install a no-load tone pot to brighten it up a bit. It can get pretty bright and gritty with 500k pots, but can be a great pup to liven up a dark LP or the like.

Re: Fender DH-1 = Duncan Pearly Gates?

I've read in another thread that it has a few more turns of wire to it than a regular PG, but with an A2 it should sound similar but not exact.

I've also heard that the PG+ has more winds than the PG. If this is indeed true, then the PG+ with an A2 would have a bit more output and a warmer tone than the PG (more in the mids, less in the highs).

Is this correct or am I off base here?
