Fender Elite Strats and Teles...

Re: Fender Elite Strats and Teles...

I have an SLX ; the neck isn't especially thin but it is nice. Construction/build quality are great. Really not my best sounding guitar though, the hardware is something I would ideally replace. I have the Duncan Designed rail pickups in a different guitar; also not really my first choice, but not terrible either. For sure, the SLX is not in any way comparable to an American Elite.

Imagine this bad boy with a BG1400 and Duncan Mini Humbucker! Sweet!

I looked it up, and you're right. Forgot about that.

If you're just looking for 3 single coil slots and a fast neck, Jackson recently came out with the Soloist SL4X. It does have a Floyd Rose, though. Don't know if you like 'em or not, though.

That's a pretty impressive guitar for the price. Even though it doesn't have genuine SD pick ups the Duncan designed pups are pretty good sounding pick ups IMHO. The neck thru design is a real bonus.

I'm still waiting for the Elite Deluxe Plus Custom Prophecy Professional series.

Re: Fender Elite Strats and Teles...

Honestly, I wish Fender would offer Strats with the same neck profile as a Charvel, and the compound fretboard radius too, of course. I have a Wildcard #6 Dreamsicle and it has one of my all time favorite necks on it (my Jackson USA SL1 is a tie). If they did that, I'd probably sell off some of my shred sticks and just go that route for most of my trem equipped guitars. I'm kinda burnt out on Floyds. They're not hard for me to set up, but I like to go back and forth between straight and dropped

Oh well, I guess there's always Warmoth.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

I thought US Deluxes had a compound radius in their final years- I for sure would prefer thinner Jackson/Charvel-esque profiles.

I don't know about the Deluxes, but these new Elites do have a compound radius. Plays really well. And while their neck profile is nice (I like it better than most Fenders), yeah, it's still not as nice as a Charvel or a Jackson USA Soloist. At least for me.
