I've seen them before on Musician's Friend. I've been interested in trying them, but I just haven't bought one yet. I think whenever I finish this bass rebuild I've had for the last few years I'll put one on.

It looks like it's something you can take on and off in a few seconds right? I wonder if it actually does anything.

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

I had one for a little while way back when Groove Tubes was making/marketing them in the late 90's. I never noticed any substantial difference in sound from using one.

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

For $20-30, it's worth a shot, whether it actually does anything or not.

If it does work and I don't get it, I'm sure I'm not missing out on much. If it doesn't work and I do get, I'm only out $30. So it's kind of whatever either way.

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

It seems to me that if it were effective there would be other versions and knockoffs.

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

Try one. If you like the whatever changes it brings, buy one. If you can detect no difference, do not buy one.

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

Don't think it's possible to try before you buy except maybe from GC.

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

I had one- it added sustain and mass to an Ibanez RG I had- it's worth a try

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

I agree it's worth it. One of my basses in particular might benefit.

My local GC will take anything back, under any circumstances. True be told, I actually only shop there if there's a chance I might be returning the item.

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

I have one but have not tried it on a bass. It helped an Epiphone Masterbilt (spelled correctly) get more sustain. It sounded "better" and was noticeable when I took it off...but not really in any way I can decide so may just be the placebo effect in my mind.

Re: Fender Fat Finger?

There are two versions: the bass version looks like it has more mass (it's bigger).
