Fender Frontman 15W amp

My local pawn shop has a Fender Frontman 15W guitar amp for $35. Looks new. Should I grab it? I play primarily bass and don't have any guitar amp. This would just be for knocking around.

For a Frontman even $35,- is too much. It's garbage, you may be better of getting a small Roland Cube.

Re: Fender Frontman 15W amp

Reading back my previous post, I might sound a little harsh. I love Fender amps, I have two myself: a '65 DRRI and an original '69 Super Reverb. In any Dutch rehearsal studio you'll find Fender Frontman Amps, and they're the very reason I always bring my own amp.

Thanks, LRS and Jon.

I just saw this in the window and I'm a sucker for Fender, which is why I thought I'd best check with those who know.

bump your budget up a little bit and get a Princeton 65 for ~100 and you'll probably have a backup amp forever.

Re: Fender Frontman 15W amp

Yeah, the Frontman is Fender's answer to crappy starter amps like the Gorilla. I wouldn't spend fifty cents on one.

Re: Fender Frontman 15W amp

Yea, the old ss one. The 25 sounds all right for what it is and the 65 has the wattage to play well with a bass.

Re: Fender Frontman 15W amp

I'd take it. I have the 25 watt Frontman (and saving up for a tube amp), but it sounds great! It's loud, reverby, pretty versetile, and the overdrive isn't bad. I have no complaints about the amp (although there are obviously better amps that cost hundreds of dollars), and $35 is an amazing deal for it. I'd play it first, though. If it's that cheap, there might be something wrong with it.
