I actually like these large tele pickguards. Good set of controls. Properly cover up pickup routes. Good for tinkering.

Doesn't the large headstock make a hardtail like that very boomy?

Worked fine with my old relic strat. Though the increased beef from the singlecut may make a diff? IDK. Havent had alot of time on t deluxes.

Be grateful that Fender has not recreated the Seventies/CBS-era Tele body outline.

IMO, original Fender Wide Range humbuckers look fugly but sound unique. Right now, I am watching one on e-Bay. Vendor is starting it at £195. I am seriously tempted to buy it.

Love the metal flake colors. I have a Strat in that same orange.

Agreed about that pickguard though. Doesn't seem to fit with the sparkles. I much prefer the Strat headstock to a Tele one any day.

Without the big guard and CBS Strat head they are not 72 reissues...

And that is why I stated

I know they're trying to stay with the whole '72 thing and all, but...............

I don't hate them. I like the control layout. Probably because I play Les Pausl! I don't care for the headstock.......not crazy about the colors. I'd like one in black/black or blond/black..........

I've considered going the Warmoth route and sticking regular humbuckers in there.......

I didn't think the reissue WR buckers were *that* bad, but yeah they're nothing like the originals.

I like the idea, and the flake in the paint, but I'd like to see them in some darker colors.

I've also considered the partsocaster route, but with ebony, 22 frets, and something like "Fartin" on the hs.

I am so feeling this guitar right now. Spent sometime playing a few of the flakes and this particular gold one really stood out.
