Fender Hard Case Question

Hey guys, I recently got a fender hard case for my strat. It looks like the one in this picture I found online. I fit my guitar strap into one of the compartments and in the other compartment I put strings, string changing tools, and picks.

Is there a spot I can fit my 15 ft cable in there? Is under the headstock a good idea or do you guys do anything else? Any ideas or experiences would be of help.

Thanks.

Re: Fender Hard Case Question

Definitely spend $40 on something like the Roadrunner before letting cable ends knock around and ding your guitar.

I have a pedaltrain nano+, is it still good to have a bag just for cables?

Re: Fender Hard Case Question

Do you have a bag for your nano+ that doesn't have a side pocket for cables? If the proper storage compartments in your guitar case are full up, you might be looking at another bag. It could be just about anything, though. Make sure you look for stuff to fill it up. Surge suppressor? Tuner? Snacks? Drinks? Mints? Gum? Notepad?

i managed to find a good way to fit the cables in the cavity in my amp, and I can also fit my pedalboard with its bag in there too. Thanks for the replies tho :)

Re: Fender Hard Case Question

Probably okay to leave it behind the headstock, just tuck the plug ends into one of the compartments so they don't bounce around.

Re: Fender Hard Case Question

I have a little nylon bag with a zipper that I put my cables and picks in. But I'm also more often than not just carrying a backpack with all that stuff in, as well as my strap(s), cords and power-strip(not always needed, but very nice to have), small tool kit, duct tape, Tylenol pm, my alibi, etc...

I was at a local show a few weeks ago, and the guitar player in that band had Velcro strips in that area and had a small pouch that he would attach to it. Pretty neat idea, and I saw your post and it reminded me of it.

Re: Fender Hard Case Question

I would strongly suggest an accessories bag. I carry my guitar cables, spare tubes, capo, strings, a winder and cutters, polish spray and cloths, nail clippers, Tylenol, a flashlight, super glue, a multi-tool, 9-volts, etc.

I have a lot of experience with Murphy's Law. I believe in the Scout's Motto, "Be Prepared".

And keep your strap away from the finish of your guitar.

Re: Fender Hard Case Question

You can go to one of the big box stores and pick up a laptop bag or backpack on the cheap. I avoid loading stuff in the back of my amp especially if I have to lay it flat I the trunk. You don't want a stompbox banging the speaker and head as you are stopping and starting the car. Even a cable bouncing around in the back of your amp can damage your speaker cones or terminals.

Re: Fender Hard Case Question

Another vote for the accessories bag...you definitely can put the cable underneath the headstock but unless you have a rag or something wrapped around it you will probably get some dings on the top sides of the fretboard as well as the headstock itself.
